VIP Openhouse at the Wolfsonian, Miami Beach, Florida

December 28, 2007

The Wolfsonian is a remarkable design museum in the heart of the Art Deco District, Miami Beach. The Wolfsonian collection contains artifacts primarily of North American and European origin, dating from 1885 – 1945, which are presented in the Wolfsonian’s permanent exhibition “Art and Design in the Modern Age”. Current exhibitions are Fashioning the Modern French Interior: Pochoir Portfolios in the 1920s, Agitated Images: John Heartfield & German Photomontage, 1920-1938, and (Lo & Behold) (Mira & Ve) (site-specific artwork by Lawrence Weiner). Vernissage TV attended the “VIP Openhouse” as the Wolfsonian unveiled “Things I have learned in my life so far: Works by Stefan Sagmeister“, a site-specific installation curated by Steven Heller. During Art Basel Miami Beach the Wolfsonian also mounted a fully automated/robotic orchestration of the then-scandalous 1924 “Ballet Mécanique”, presented by Paul D. Lehrman, coordinator of music technology at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts and Eric Singer, director of the League of Electrical Musical Urban Robots (LEMUR) (to see our interview with Eric Singer click here). In this video there is art (Andrey Bartenev) filming art, sounds from the Ballet, photographs by Jessica Craig-Martin and balloons on the roof. VIP Openhouse at the Wolfsonian, Miami Beach, Florida, December 7, 2007.
