Just in time for the Salzburg Festival 2008, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Salzburg opened an exhibition with a new cycle of works by German artist Anselm Kiefer. The show, named after the once popoular German Advent and Christmas carol “Maria durch ein Dornwald ging” (Maria walks amid the Thorn), presents around 30 pictures and a sculpture. Most of the works were made in 2007/2008. Some of the works on display were started in the 1970s and completed over the past months with the sedimenting working method that is so typical for Anselm Kiefer. A catalogue including an interview with Anselm Kiefer by Klaus Dermutz will accompany the exhibition. Impressions from the opening, July 24, 2008.

Andy Warhol is at the core of this year’s summer exhibition at the Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden, Germany. In addition to the works of Andy Warhol, the show includes works by Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein, Cy Twombly and Anselm Kiefer. From May 25 to October 7, 2007, the Frieder Burda Museum hosts highlights from the internationally renowned Marx Collection in Berlin. Collector Erich Marx consequently gathered together remarkable works of art, concentrating mainly on six artists: Joseph Beuys, Anselm Kiefer, Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein, Cy Twombly and Andy Warhol. In 1996, his collection found a permanent home at the Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin’s museum for contemporary art. Opening reception, May 24, 2007, impressions.
