The exhibition Zonas de Riesgo (Risk Areas) at the CaixaForum in Madrid focuses on artistic responses to our present social, economic, political and cultural situation. Drawn from the Contemporary Art Collection of the Fundación “la Caixa” it features about thirty pieces by Carlos Amorales, Miguel íngel Rios, Damian Ortega, Steve McQueen, Txomin Badiola, Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Adrian Paci, Marlene Dumas, Bruce Nauman, Liu Jianhua and Jana Sterbak. Among the works on display are Mona Hatoum’s Mobile Home (2005/07), José Antonio Hernández-Díez’ The Brotherhood (1994) and Carlos Amorales’ Useless Wonder.
The Contemporary Art Collection of the Fundación “la Caixa” began in the early 1980s and now comprises more than 750 artwork by different generations of international artists. The exhibition Zonas de riesgo (Risk Areas) runs until the 3rd May, 2009. The CaixaForum Madrid was designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron and was inaugurated in spring 2008 (see also our video CaixaForum Madrid by Herzog & de Meuron Architects / Madrid, Spain).
