An Introduction to the Work of Balthus (11/12)

1977 Balthus moves back to Switzerland, he resides in the legendary Grand Chalet in the alpine village of Rossinière in the canton of Vaud. That’s where he creates his last paintings, including “Le Chat au Miroir”. This painting not only brings together all the essential themes of Balthus’ oeuvre, such as the young girl, the cat, the mirror, and the furniture, but it also holds a little secret that curator Raphaël Bouvier reveals in this video.
