An Introduction to the Work of Balthus (10/12)

The theme of this episode is Balthus’ famous double portrait “La Toilette de Cathy” from 1933. In this painting, Balthus depicts both himself and his most important early model and also his first muse, Anoinette de Wattville. Curator Raphaël Bouvier tells us what this has to do with Emily Brontë’s novel Wuthering Heights.
