Following the pandemic-related interruption, Art Cologne is back again, taking place from 17 to 21 November 2021. Around 150 galleries and dealers from around 20 countries present modern and postwar to contemporary art. For the first time it runs concurrently with Cologne Fine Art & Design, which complements Art Cologne by showing art, arts and crafts and design from early times to the modern period.
Art Cologne features new participants in all segments of the fair. These segments are: Contemporary, New Positions, Modern / Postwar, Neumarkt, and Collaborations. There are also special exhibitions such as the show “What – if Could – Be” of the LBBW Landesbank Baden-Württemberg. Another show is “Resisting Erasure: Queer Art in Hungary” by the Hungarian Curatorial collective “Queer Budapest”. The Zentralarchiv für deutsche und internationale Kunstmarktforschung [Central archive for German and international art market research] ZADIK is presenting an exhibition about the Cologne gallery owner Helmut Rywelski, who caused a furore between 1967 and 1972 with his art intermedia gallery and his critique of the commercial art business.
