An Introduction to the Work of Georg Baselitz (6/8)

This is the sixth film in an 8-part series that introduces the work of the German artist Georg Baselitz (in German language with English subtitles). The series was recorded on the occasion of the exhibition “Baselitz” at Fondation Beyeler in Riehen (Basel, Switzerland, 21.1.-29.4.2018).

This part of the introduction is dedicated to the yellow-painted sculptural group “Dresdner Frauen” (Women of Dresden), 1989-90, a work that refers to the artist’s own experience and memory of the famous “Trümmerfrauen” that were clearing up the mess after the destructions of World War II.

Recorded at Fondation Beyeler, 13 February 2018.
