The Cinema Effect: Realisms at Caixa Forum Madrid is an exhibition that reflects on the influence and impact of cinema in constructing our visual culture, highlighting how cinematographic language has taken on various artistic forms including video and installation art. The show features work by Julian Rosefeldt (Lonely Planet, 2006); Isaac Julien (Fantíme Créole, 2005); Runa Islam (Tuin, 1998); Kerry Tribe (Double, 2001); Paul Chan (1st Light, 2005); Omer Fast (Godville, 2005); Mungo Thomson (New York, New York, New York, New York, 2004); and Ian Charlesworth (John, 2005).
The Cinema Effect is a two-part show that takes place in Madrid (Realisms) and Barcelona (Dreams, opens in May 2011). The show has been curated by Kerry Brougher, Anne Ellegood, Kelly Gordon, and Kristen Hileman.
